12 Ways to Live More Sustainably / Frugally

world in hands

Morning!

Caught a Terrific Collection of all 101 Strategies to live more sustainably, and while Lots of these were fairly frequent ones that there were a few that got me to stop and ask myself if I really could do better…

Here are a handful of these, along with some links they recommended which sent me for the last hour and a half down a rabbit hole an haha… But were you aware Tesla also generates solar panels?? Or that the typical U.S. household burns 47 batteries per year?!

Needing to up my game longer here… Hopefully you will find something new as our planet wants just as much help as it can get these days!

A couple ways to become more sustainable AND save some $$

Stop lining your trash bins with plastic — Instead, Curb recommends periodically washing and rinsing your containers – something I hadn’t considered within my 40 decades of lifetime 🤦‍♂️
Wash clothes in cold water –– Around 90% of their energy used to wash clothes comes from heating the water! Only 10 percent comes from electricity for its washing machine.
Make your own all-purpose cleanser — Reduce the harm caused by the manufacture, use, and disposal of compounds by mixing your cleanser. Here’s Combine 1/2 cup vinegar plus 1/4 cup baking soda with 1/2 gallon of water.
Hang-dry your clothes — “After the refrigerator and the washer, the dryer employs the most energy. A clothesline in the sunshine is a zero-emission option (and your laundry will smell terrific). Here are some tips for you started. ” I’ll admit this one seems the very time consuming and hardest to pull off today’s faster world, but I’m giving it a thought today that we’ve a decent backyard and enough privacy for no one to see our skivvies;-RRB- Knowing me though I’ll go through all the work and accidentally leave ’em out at the rain!!
Install solar panels ––  Because solar power is still the very cost-effective supply of power but you don’t need to use the bulky panels of the past. Firms like Tesla, Sistine Solar, and Forward Labs are introducing sleeker, lower-profile designs which blend into the roof of your house. ”
Join a moment lender Swap your providers to get rsquo & someone else;s–and also make the community stronger by working together. Putting an hour long in could be as simple as giving someone a trip to the physician.
Use washable fabrics instead of paper towels or paper towels — The toughest one for me to break personally, but I’m on round II of trying after a few years away:-LRB- So much more difficult with a million children spilling things every 5 minutes!! However, not giving up!!
Switch to rechargeable batteries — “The normal U.S. household burns 47 batteries per year, according to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery. Alternatively, you can purchase just 12 rechargeable batteries every four years (the normal lifetime of rechargeables). ” Another matter I harbor ’t been best at over the years… Just picked up my initial 8 bunch of batteries last month and likely to try and replace ALL batteries moving forward as I discover and scoop up good deals… Kids go through SO MANY because of their toys!
Buy chargers for the devices –– Didn’t understand that this was a thing??! They recommend the BigBlue 28W USB Solar Charger to plug on the go.
Eat less meat — A tough one to do in our family (or, largely for me – I like meat!!) , but I keep reading over and over again just how awful it really is for our surroundings. Creating a single quarter-pound hamburger requires! Wild!!
Don’t get cheesy — Some cheeses also offers a big carbon footprint. Cheddar and mozzarella, specifically, that use 10 pounds of milk to receive 1 pound of cheese.
And Finally, here’s a good carbon footprint calculator so you can determine Exactly How much your household is donated to the overload –> EPA’s Household Carbon Footprint Calculator

What do y ’ do to that you ’ ve found is fairly powerful? Any game changers that have saved you lender, as well as make this place much more greener for everyone?

If all of us do just ONE extra thing jointly this week we’ll have a little impact here:-RRB- Let’s make it happen!!

PS: Also stumbled across this site the other day to get tooth brush alternatives: GivingBrush.com. The normal individual uses (and then throws out) roughly 300 toothbrushes during the course of their life, so their duty is to change individuals to biodegradable handles using bamboo instead of plastic. Just purchased one from them throughout the weekend and also excited to test it!
