The candidates to your 2021 European Car of the Year (ECOTY) award have been announced, together with 29 models vying for the coveted trophy. Each of the candidates are new vehicles available now or prior to the end of 2020 in five or more European economies, and will have to get two stages of graduate by a jury.

In the first 29 models, just seven will likely make it to the next round, together using all the listing set to be announced on January 8 next year. After this, a second round of voting will determine the only winner, which is announced on March 1, 2021.

Leading the pack in terms of entries is Mercedes-Benz, which is the only brand which has four models — GLA, GLB, GLS and S-Class — listed as nominees. Coming in closing with all three contenders is Hyundai, together using all the i10, i20 and Tucson possibly getting the next ECOTY winner.
