AMD confirms Tesla’s new Model S and Model X will boast RDNA 2 GPUs

It seems that Elon Musk wasn’t exaggerating when he said in the past the new Tesla Model S and Model X would comprise PlayStation 5-level amusement calculating power. During its latest Computex keynote, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su confirmed that Tesla’s new flagship sedan and SUV would really feature RDNA 2 GPU architecture. 

In her keynote, Dr. Su highlighted the fact that AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics are observed in several consumer devices now, such as the PlayStation 5. This highlighted the chipmaker’s proficiency in producing hardware which ’s made to handle even the toughest programs and games on the industry. The CEO also remarked that AMD’so called RDNA 2 graphics would not be confined to laptops and gaming consoles, as they would be found in electric cars too.

“We’re really only getting started with RDNA 2. So you may be surprised to learn the next place you’ll locate RDNA 2 images. It’s actually on the street, in the electric car market using the new Tesla Model S and Model X,” she affirmed. 

The AMD CEO clarified the RDNA 2 graphics would kick in when people are enjoying something that demands a great deal of processing power. This program is comparable to the way devices such as laptops juggle different and integrated graphics cards into maximize energy consumption. It should allow Tesla to make certain that its built-in gaming systems don’t consume more electricity than they actually need as well.

“So we’t really, we have an embedded AMD Ryzen APU inhabiting the infotainment system in the two automobiles as well as a different RDNA 2-based GPU that cries when running Triple A matches, giving up to 10 teraflops of compute power. With its RDNA 2 images system and Triple A gaming capacity supported, Tesla’s new Model S and Model X are on course to act as the vehicles with the most innovative infotainment systems on the street. Interestingly enough, rumors of Tesla’s next flagship cars being armed with an AMD processor began annually when prolific tech leaker Patrick Schur hinted that Tesla was considering using AMD processors for their automobiles.
