Apple Cuts 200 Employees From Project Titan Autonomous Car Division

Apple has ignored over 200 workers involved in its autonomous car collection, dubbed Project Titan.

The tech giant has acknowledged the job cuts but indicates they do not suggest a move from the progression of autonomous that was industry-leading technologies.

“We have an incredibly talented team focusing on autonomous platforms and technologies at Apple. As the staff focuses their work on many key areas for 2019, several teams are being moved to projects in different parts of the business, where they’ll encourage machine learning and other endeavors, across all of Apple,” a company spokesperson stated.

“We continue to believe there’s a enormous chance with autonomous systems, that Apple has capabilities and that this is definitely the most demanding machine learning project. ”

A number of other Project Titan workers will keep working for Apple however move to various areas of the business as part of the restructuring, CNBC reports.

While Project Titan has since remained top-secret because its creation, the business is understood to have changed focus from creating a bespoke electrical vehicle to rather merely focusing on autonomous applications.

At August 2018, up to 2700 individuals were believed to participate in Project Titan under the direction of technology executive Doug Field.

Apple is currently analyzing a series of prototypes throughout California. Most prototypes are based round Lexus SUV models that have been laden with detectors and have been spied testing on quite a few occasions.
