BMW is thought to be operating on both hybrid and all-electric variations of the next-generation M5 and they’re shaping up to offer the kind of functionality previously unthinkable to get a family automobile.

It’s noted that the next-generation BMW 5-Series will land at the next quarter of 2023 and that the new M5 will be launched.

2 powertrain alternatives will be accessible, according to Car Magazine’s Georg Kacher. The first version will be a plug in hybrid that combines a turbocharged V8 motor with multiple electrical motors to deliver roughly 750 hp and also 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. It is not this version that will leave its competitors in the dust.

An all-electric M5 are also accessible approximately 2024 or 2025. This version is expected to contain Gen V pouch-type batteries rated at about 135 kWh that will include the 800v design as the Porsche Taycan. It’s promised the car will match three electrical motors — two at the back wheels and one at the front to make for a joint 1,000 hp. The auto will have the ability to hit 62 miles (100 km/h) in under 3 minutes and could have a WLTP assortment of 435 miles (700 km).

Of course, the next-generation BMW M5 will not be the electrical sedan with this sort of functionality. Tesla is readying a tri-motor version of the Model S and it’ll probably churn out nearly 1,000 hp.

It seems the sedan will probably be around for many years to come while internal combustion motors are gradually dying out.
