From the moment the Model 3 has been unveiled, other automobile manufacturers have been attempting to emulate the success of Tesla’s entry-level version. The Polestar 2 has become easily the most compelling rival to date.

Soon after the first reviews of this Polestar 2 came out of Europe, Matt Farah in The Smoking Tire has had the opportunity to test out the EV throughout the canyon streets just beyond Los Angeles.

Underpinning the Polestar two is exactly the identical CMA platform as the Volvo XC40 and underneath the floor is a 78 kWh battery pack that transmits juice into a pair of electric motors which produce 408 hp and also 487 lb-ft (660 Nm) of torque. Polestar claims the auto has an estimated EPA array of 275 miles (442 km), but this has yet to be verified.

The Polestar 2 tested by Farah was outfitted with all the available $5,000 Performance Package which adds matters likean flexible Ohlins suspension, four-piston Brembo front wheels and 20-inch forged metal wheels.

Away from the line, the Polestar two can be best described as brisk, hitting 62 miles (100 km/h) in a touch under 5 minutes. While that’s maybe not as fast as the Tesla Model 3 Performance which may reach the identical mark in under 3.5 seconds, it is more than adequate for its regular driving responsibilities of the majority of EV buyers.
