Canadians Reportedly Damaging Cars With American Plates Over COVID-19 Fears

Canada is seen as America’s friendly neighbor to the north, but it seems the coronavirus has made everybody go somewhat mad.

According to The New York Times, Canadians are damaging cars with plates in the United States in a clear effort to acquire their owners to leave and not return.

Damage isn’t the sole issue since CBC News reports that there have also been cases of harassment and assault. In the episode, two individuals became mad when they saw a car with a Florida license plate.

Even though the boundary is closed to non-essential traveling, there are exemptions set up for: Returning citizens, PRs & their immediate family members Essential workers Travellers in transit

The owner of the vehicle was really a Canadian who vacations in the United States, and Ontario Provincial Police told the CBC that the men “poked him and demanded to know why he was in Canada.

In another instance, a Canadian who operates in the United States and forces a company car with Michigan plates had their car keyed while it was parked in a marina.

The issues have become prevalent that the premier of British Columbia has addressed this matter. He suggested individuals & obtain their plates and ldquo; who’ve plates that were offshore and therefore so are feeling plagued & rdquo; should choose transit.

While the boundary between the United States and Canada has been shut to non-essential traffic, there are a number of exceptions and Canadians are cautious about America&rsquo. Johns Hopkins University states the United States has experienced 5,075,678 cases of COVID-19, while Canada has experienced only 121,610.

While anxiety is no explanation for vandalism or harassment, Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Jason Folz told the CBC last month “People are worried [about COVID-19], and it comes out in odd ways. This is one of the ways. ”
