Tesla plans its next gigantic “gigafactory,” Google steps up efforts against COVID-19 and NEA increases a $3.6 billion fund. This ’s your Daily Crunch for March 11, 2020.

1. Tesla is eyeing Nashville to get Cybertruck gigafactory

Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted Tuesday evening that the company is ldquo;scouting” places to build a new U.S. “gigafactory” that will produce the Cybertruck and Model Y crossover. Musk didn’t provide more information in the tweets, however a source informed TechCrunch that Nashville is about a short list of contenders.

Tesla broke ground on its first gigafactory on land near Reno, Nev. at 2014, developing a massive, 1.9 million-square-foot construction.

2. Google expands operate from home recommendation to most North American employees, establishes ‘COVID-19 fund’

Last week, Google sent a memo out to staff recommending that Washington State-based employees work remotely, so as to mitigate the possible spread of COVID-19. The proposal was expanded, in accord with the spread of the virus. A note from the company urges similar actions for employees over North America.

3. NEA, venture capital’s quiet giant, closes $3.6 billion

Unlike some companies, the partnership at NEA hasn’t concentrated on star-making. For the last several years the fund was conducted by Scott Sandell, who has been with the firm since 1996 (his last tweet has been first in 2010).

4. Now loading on Hotstar at India: Disney+

Disney+ has now exploded at India weeks before its launch date. The American giant revived the Hotstar app and populated the video streaming service using the Disney+ authentic catalog on Wednesday morning.

7. Quibi and Eko are in a legal battle over video tech

The Wall Street Journal broke the information that interactive video company Eko is currently accusing Quibi of info on its patented technologies. Meanwhile, the The Hollywood Reporter noted that Quibi (which is launching its short-form mobile video service next month) has filed a complaint in California federal court asserting that Eko has engaged in “a campaign of threats and harassment. ”
