Hyperbolically powerful EVs are sprouting throughout the automotive landscape just like weeds these days. Even the Porsche Taycan Turbo S makes an already honestly ridiculous 750 horsepower, but the Lotus Evija, Rimac C2, also Tesla Roadster all have it defeat. Now there’s a new participant in the game. Elation Hypercars, an American-based “hyper-EV” firm, has just announced its first job, and it’s too crazy as you’d expect for a new participant in this space attempting to create waves.
According to Elation that the Freedom, their first car, will probably be powered by a 100 kWh lithium ion battery plus also four electric motors that can make up to (roughly ) 1,903 horsepower. The battery is an T-shaped device which ’s incorporated to the automobile ’s chassis. If clients so desire, they can spec a 120 kWh battery and that grants a range of (again, roughly ) 400 kilometers on a single charge. And those aren’t the sole big amounts. The Elation Freedom will probably start at $2 million per piece.
Elation–intriguing name, incidentally –also says their double-wishbone suspension has been inspired by Formula 1 racecar technology, although its conventional coilover dampers don’t much resemble the complex inboard arrangement on real F1 cars. The chassis of this Freedom itself is a carbon fiber monocoque with a claimed torsional rigidity of 65,000 newton meters per level. As an example, a Bugatti Chiron’s angle stiffness is rated at 50,000 nm per level.
But wait! That’s not all. Besides their headline catching EV hypercar, there’s also what Elation is calling the Freedom Iconic Collection, which “includes a 5.2 Liter V-10 engine with a dual-clutch, seven-speed S-tronic transmission plus also all-wheel drive settings. ” That sounds an awful lot as an Audi R8 V-10’s powertrain. Elation will charge clients $2.3 million for those presumably Audi-powered models.
Outrageous claims and an outrageous cost are all just par for the class in the world of new hyper-EV startups these days, thus we are able to ’wait to see if Elation really produces.
