Interfacing our brains may rescue us. According to Elon Musk, should we want to avoid becoming the equal of primates in an AI-dominated planet, connecting our minds to calculating capabilities is a solution that has to be researched.
As a man who tends to place his money in the ring in which he thinks it needs to be, Elon and a few like-minded entrepreneurs have established Neuralink, a firm dedicated to doing that. Human-brain machine ports aren’t for doomsday insurance, yet. Elon hinted at some other options in the functions in a brief conversation with Axios which aired on HBO, the segment titled “Musk See TV”.
Throughout the interview, Elon touched on a few topics which produce regular appearances in his discussions such as artificial intelligence and Tesla. His warnings regarding AI were as dire as ever, lamenting specifically about the way, as a society, we people are more worried about what titles we call one another compared to risks to our existence. For that short coming, evolution was attributed by him .
“We aren’t developed to deal with dangers,” he said.

Comparing the outcome of people vs. primates, in regards to AI, the SpaceX creator noted that we could very well end up becoming the equal of our animal-brethren into our system overlords. However, Elon is operating on a solution to that specific issue.
The technology has been made by Neuralink will permit us to integrate with computers to get and process information just in addition to our AI counterparts. Essentially, our brains are going to have our own AI at a cloud which our brains can synthesize with as necessary. We interface with our computers on a regular basis, so the jump from an outside device to an internal one could be a natural progression.
It may seem a modest more straightforward to have implants in our brains which enable such a capability, but as Elon mentioned in this interview, such technology is already in development for different needs. By way of example, scientists have been already capable to tap into the mind ’s electrical pulses that control joints, which means that in the event of paralysis, the signal tracks may be restored and restore motion to formerly immobile limbs.
Neuralink would present microcontrollers to progress this technology further. From the interview, Elon also implied memory performance as a place for Neuralink to focus on, specifically for problems about Alzheimer’s.
“It’s incredibly sad when a mother forgets her children, and that can be solved, also,” Musk said.
