Days after, speaking to a Tesla earnings call on Wednesday, Musk ramped up his rhetoric about shelter-in-place orders calling them “fascist. ” According to The Verge, Musk said:
We are somewhat worried about not having the ability to resume production from the Bay Area, and that should be identified as a serious threat. The growth of shelter-in-place, or as we call it, forcibly imprisoning people in their houses, against all their inherent rightsis, in my view, breaking folks ’s liberty in ways that are wrong and horrible, and not why people came to America and built this country. What the f***!
He continued, “If somebody wants to stay in the home that’s great. They should be allowed to stay in the home and they shouldn’t be forced to leave. But to say that they can’t leave their home if they do … this is fascist and they will be arrested. This isn’t democratic. This isn’t freedom. Give people back their freedom … Everything people have worked for all their lives has been ruined in actual time. I think that the folks will be angry about this and also are extremely angry. ”
Last week, Musk immediately challenged California Interim Public Health Officer Dr. Erica Pan, that had murdered Musk’s firm from resuming business via a county-wide order. Musk responded by ldquo, & tweeting;Tesla is currently restarting manufacturing today against Alameda County principles. I will be online with everybody else. If anyone is arrested, I request that it merely be me. ”
A Texas county openly courted Musk following he tweeted, “Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will move its HQ and prospective apps to Texas/Nevada instantly. If we retain Fremont manufacturing activity it will be depend on how Tesla is handled later on. Tesla is the previous carmaker left in CA. ” Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez composed an open letter into Musk arguing that Hidalgo has been the perfect regulatory environment.
