The Boring Company, Elon Musk's broadcasting startup, has reportedly been pitching businesses on a new wider cycle, a new demonstration acquired by Bloomberg shows.

According to the pitch, the new tunnels would be 21 feet , up from the company's ordinary of 12 ft, and be wide enough to allow a pair of standard transport containers to maneuver together, side by side.

The company did not respond to Insider's petition for comment or confirmation.

While most press coverage of Boring has focused on passenger transport, it now offers a cargo solution on its own site using its 12-foot tube, and it says "barely" fits 9.6-foot-tall containers onto a specialized transporter platform.

From the demonstration for the bigger tunnels, both single and dual configurations are revealed with sized battery-powered cargo carriers.

Pros told Bloomberg the idea has the capability to be successful if the prices have been well-managed.

Anne Goodchild, founding director of the Supply Chain Transportation & Logistics Center in the University of Washington, known as the notion "fully attainable," but stated that surface streets are often still a stylish, relatively low cost alternative to tunnels.

The Boring Company claims its loop average cost approximately $10 million per mile on average, however its own recently finished project in Las Vegas cost $47 million to get a 1.7-mile loop. The company says many classic tube jobs range from $100 million to $1 billion per mile.

Tom Groark, executive director of a trade company for the heavy construction sector known as the Moles, stated prices of drilling have a tendency to increase at a faster speed than the width of the tube, largely because of the struggle of having all the material out of the hole.

Nevertheless, he said Boring's marketing of a standard size for every project helps keep gear expenses .

"They're creating the job fit the system, which 'so huge," Groark said.

The following startup in Switzerland is planning to maneuver cargo through underground tunnel networks, however unlike the Boring proposition, it uses custom-designed autonomous modules, rather than the globally embraced transportation container.
