Elon Musk’s Boring Company ‘Monty Python’ watchtower remains occupied

It seems that The Boring Company’s unveiling event last December left something special behind on top of Elon Musk’s Monty Python-style watchtower. As can be seen in an image taken a week, some knight could be seen standing on top of the Boring Brick-laid construction.

Teslarati photographer Pauline Acalin managed to get a shot of this figure atop the Boring Company watchtower during a trip to Hawthorne, CA continue Thursday. The tunneling startup’so called knight is dressed in full armor, which is different from the costume worn by actor John Cleese from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail watchtower scene.

Just like Lots of SpaceX and Tesla’s Easter Eggs, Elon Musk’s Boring Company watchtower is a nod to pop culture. A sharp-tongued and quick-witted French knight stationed at a watchtower threw creative and numerous insults at King Arthur and his knights. A number of the knight’s insults, for example “I fart in your general direction” and “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries” have stood the test of time, even surviving the years because the movie ’s launch in 1975 before the present date, where they live on in online meme tradition.

The buildout of Elon Musk’s Monty Python-style watchtower has been a feat of functional engineering. To assemble the tower, the tunneling startup first set up a metallic frame for the construction, which was then overlaid with big pre-made sections of Boring Bricks. Workers could complete the multi-story structure punctually for the tunneling startup’s opening celebration on December 18.

To say the opening celebration of The Boring Company’s test tube was fun is a gross understatement. Attendees of this event were treated to actions such as smores-making with Not-a-Flamethrowers, in addition to one-on-one battles between knights in full battle garb. A shrine to Gary the Snail, that Elon Musk noted is quicker than a conventional Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), has been also set up at the celebration. Needless to say, that a knight was present to hurl insults at a few of the event lovers. Teslarati photographers Tom Cross and Pauline Acalin were not spared.

It remains to be seen how long Elon Musk would continue to keep his Monty Python watchtower standing close to the SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne. For the time being, passers-by would best be advised to look up if they pass the area, as they may just glimpse the tunneling startup’s stationary knight atop the watchtower — standing shield and (luckily ) incapable to hurl insults.
