Ford has been teasing their Mustang-inspired electric crossover for what feels like an eternity, but we might finally get our first look at the version later this year.

According to Autocar, the Blue Oval will present a concept before the year is out. The publication didn’t go into specifics, but suggested that the company could also disclose the model’s title at exactly the exact same time.

Ford hinted at the prospect of calling the version the Mach 1, but backtracked after an uproar from Mustang lovers who were mad about the name being applied to an electrical crossover. Ford has reverted to calling the version that the “Mustang-inspired fully-electric performance utility” but that’s a mouthful and, mercifully, only temporary.

While the firm still hasn’t confirmed the crossover’s title, Ford has filed trademarks for the “Mach E,” “Mach-E” and “Mustang Mach-E” monikers. This suggests the crossover could adopt the Mach E title, but it’s not certain at this point as the automaker is also working on an electrified Mustang.
