It’s been around roughly two months since the Ford Mustang Mach-E premiered at last year’s LA Auto Show and while its reception was somewhat contentious, the automobile manufacturer seems to have obtained as much as 32,000 customer reservations for its all-electric crossover at $500 a pop.
As shown by a consumer over at the Mach E Club forum, people placing reservations for the Mustang Mach-E are getting reservation amounts in the mid-30,000s. A deficiency of customer reservations plotted between 1 and 4,000 has directed the forum consumer to speculate that the first 4,000-odd Mach-Es generated will probably be automobiles and trader demonstrators employed by Ford for other purposes.

It is also known that the reservation amounts compiled come from various markets and not the United States. Ford has previously indicated it might aim to construct 50,000 models so if it receives roughly 14,000 additional reservations, the EV could be sold out for its first year of production.
Needless to say, there’s a distinction between setting a reservation for the Mach-E and really purchasing it’s unavoidable that some shoppers who have reservations won’t pull the trigger and actually get a Mach-E. The cancellation rate for the Tesla Model 3 is considered to be between 12 per cent and 23 per cent and if Ford experiences a comparable pace, then it may end up selling between 24,640 and 28,160 Mach-Es of the 32,000 that are reserved.
Carscoops has reached out to Ford to see if these figures are true.
No less than five Ford Mustang Mach-E variants will be produced, which range from the entry-level Select tier beginning at $43,895 before tax prices and topping out at $60,500 for its high performance Mach-E GT. Late this year, the first customer deliveries are expected.
