Elon Musk and Grimes’ new package of joy shipped the Internet into a coil of confusion once the couple declared that their baby boy’s name is X Æ A-12.
It remains unclear whether or not they’re trolling, or if the name is a code for some other, much more pronounceable one, but if they are being severe, the moniker won’t be valid in the state of California in which the baby was presumably born.
“In California, it is possible to only utilize the ’26 characters’ of this English language in your child,” family law attorney David Glass advised People. “Thus, you can’t possess numbers, Roman numerals, accents, umlauts or other symbols or emojis. Though an apostrophe, for a name such as ‘O’Connor,’ is acceptable. ”
In case Musk and Grimes filled out X Æ A-12’s birth certificate “using dashes all the numbers and symbols, it is going to be submitted and reversed and then they ’ll be requested to submit it. ”
“I really would like ’t believe you could say it’s prohibited — it won’t be approved,” he concluded. “So your child won’t won ’ t have a birth certificate and have an official name and you’re able to ’t until you have a birth certificate and on later on get a social security number. ”

On Tuesday (May 5), Grimes took to Twitter to provide an explanation of this name, which is the anonymous factor X plus technician, songs and romance themes all combined together. Still no clarification on pronunciation, though.
