Apple’s strategies of foraying in the world of electric vehicles have been the talk of town recently, and for great reasons. But, it appears that Apple is not the only consumer electronics giant carrying out a part of the global EV pie. According to a Reuters report,  HUAWEI is planning to make electric cars and offer them under the brand new brand.

Talks underway with local names to utilize their manufacturing plants for making EVs

The firm – whose giant smartphone business has been on a sharp drop recently due to US trade sanctions – continues to be in talks with state-owned Changan Automobile and few different titles in China to make its electric vehicles at their manufacturing facilities. More to the point, sources familiar with the latest developments claim that HUAWEI can launch ‘a few versions ’ at 2021 itself.

“Huawei has started tirelessly designing the EVs and coming suppliers at home, with the goal of formally launching the job as soon as this year, three of those resources said.Richard Yu, head of Huawei’s consumer business group who headed the company to grow into one of the planet ’s biggest smartphone manufacturers, will change his focus to EVs, said one source. ”

The upcoming HUAWEI electric vehicles will reportedly have a mass-market approach, unlike the ‘Apple Car’, that can be said to be a luxury drive free of purpose of competing against the likes of Tesla’s lower-priced EVs like the Model 3.

HUAWEI’s EV will reportedly have a mass-market appeal

China’s local EV business has seen a spike recently, with the uptake of electric vehicles said to go up at a quick rate in the next several years. In terms of HUAWEI, a foray in the domain of electric vehicles makes senseso as an alternative small business chance after getting its smartphone forged by sanctions. Additionally, fellow titles like Foxconn and Baidu are also harboring their very own electric car ambitions too.

HUAWEI has become a player in the EV market for a while now

HUAWEI is believed to have recently received four electric vehicle-related patents in China. Furthermore, the business has partnerships with the likes of Daimler AG along with General Motors about EV technologies, and has been developing related solutions like in-car applications systems and sensors for a while now.

Back in 2019, HUAWEI introduced exactly what it calls the planet ’s first 5G communications applications for cars which was based on the in-house Balong 5000 chip. And in July this past year, Chinese automaker BYD launched its 5G-equipped Han electric car that ran HUAWEI’s HarmonyOS automobile platform.
