Icon will bring its completely electric 1949 Mercury Coupe to the Geneva International Motor Show, happening weekly.

Electricity comes from a dual-motor installation that provides the equivalent of 400 HP and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque, although the best rate resides at 120 mph (193 km/h). Providing juice is a Tesla Performance 85 kWh battery, completely aerodynamic in 90 minutes.

The scope is estimated at 150 to 200 kilometers (241 about 322 kilometers ), based on Icon, which is pretty great for a vehicle which you wouldn’t drive a daily basis.

This vehicle a part of Icon’therefore “Derelict” series of conversions, centered on combining retro looks with ultra modern electric powertrains. Before being turned into something this older Mercury was disassembled so that all its own rubber could be replaced with brand new pieces. It features sound-deadening and insulation materials wherever possible.

Mechanically, there’s a brand new chassis developed with Art Morrison Enterprises, using an independent suspension front and rear. In terms of the motor you’re looking at under the hood, then that’s actually a personalized aluminum construction made to seem as a classic V8.

The motors are mounted in the transmission tube, whereas the “V8 engine” homes the battery controls and a few of the modules. There ’s the EV management program, tasked with protecting the batteries along with other items.

Icon included a fast-charging plug to go with all the Tesla Supercharger plug back, instead of the original fuel filler.
