Does’Indrid Cold’ still exist? Was a recent’Mothman’ experience in Hartwick, New York linked to the events in Point Pleasant & Parkersburg, WV at 1966-67?
A friend and associate detective, Gabriel L. from NYC (who is also a haunting experiencer and instinctive ), forwarded the following report on 4/10/2021:
I had been contacted by Jessica who lives in Hartwick in upstate New York.
She had given me more information of the 2 experiences once I had arrived. She went into further detail consequently enlarging our initial discussions.
During the first 2 encounters she had gotten calls from somebody using a terse trimmed tone of voice calling themselves”Indrid Cold” (The forecasts came on call-waiting throughout her conversation with the investigator. The caller ID just said’Indrid Cold,’ no additional info ). I sensed a unpleasant shudder through my body. She had been told that”she didn’t see a thing”. She said his voice had exactly the identical inflection of somebody speaking through gritted teeth or a pressured smiled.
Everybody who is to the various facets of the anomalous knows the title (Woodrow L Derenberger’s experiences with’Indrid Cold’ at November 1967 – Part I – Part II – Part III). But she didn’t. She couldn’t. She doesn’t believe in anything Fortean. For her to complete that name was serious. It was serious enough that I decided to go around Hartwick, NY and do some exploring of my own.
I didn’t know what I could do to help however I expected prayer, psychic touch, and force of will probably offer her a respite. All those have helped before. I might also see if they’ll do the job again.
She picked me up in the Oneonta, NY bus terminal on Tuesday April 6th. Oneonta is an unnerving place. Hardly anyone was out and around. Not that many pedestrians. Not much automotive traffic.
As soon as we abandon Oneonta to visit Hartwick, NY, the sense of dread and loneliness began to creep into. Despite the clear skies and lush green hills, I felt quite uncomfortable.
My report consists of 2 components:
Part 1 – her experiences with some thing is seems horrifyingly much like the Mothman.
Component 2 – my visit to her home in Tuesday April 6th on Friday April 9th.

Part 1. The Encounters
She claims to have had 2 sightings of a”dark, flying man.”
The first sighting was a few meters above her home. But while being”hazy” like an out of focus picture, she managed to tell it was in shape. It had wings although not on its rear. Rather they extended out of its chest. She guessed the wingspan to be 6 feet every limb (12 feet + overall span).
Equally disturbing was the fact there wasn’t any head. It had been headless, legged chest with wing-like appendages. She described it or floating. The wings flapped quite infrequently. She estimated a few seconds passed between every flap.
The next experience happened soon. The identical moment. It seemed much more terrifying. She had discovered stomping footsteps and yanking noises after every footfall. Her cats had saliva and also hissed while looking in a vacant place in the living area. Her puppy whined and let out short lived barks since it looked in the direction of the place as it walked into a circle.
She ran outside and watched the exact same”hazy and out of focus” black humanoid without a wings and head for arms on the roof, equaling over. She estimated the elevation to be around 7 or 8 feet. (Gabriel L: the fact it had been opaque black and”out of focus” gave me the clear impression that this thing was not an alien or cryptid but some thing extradimensional).
She yelled at it and at the point it stopped shuffling. It turned its chest around without using its legs. She saw a pair of bright red eyes dead center of its chest.
She began to feel an intense pain such as a migraine behind her eyes. She began to feel”detached” and”beside” herself like she was seeing herself behind. “My head was filled with like static from a dead TV channel. White noise.” The fear was so intense, she claimed to have urinated herself.
She stayed transfixed by the gaze until her puppy barked at her inside. She ran inside, accumulated her cats and dog and hid in a bedroom closet for the rest of the night and day. Well into Sunday morning. (During which time she contacted Gabriel L.)

Part 2. Gabriel’s Investigations
Tuesday April 6th – 1pm local time:
Upon arrival to her home in Hartwick I had been struck by the way bucolic everything was. But regardless of how everything was so beautiful that there was a heaviness in the air which felt to rise as we got nearer to her home.
I noticed the house’s left was a graveyard.
She helped me bring my luggage in and the heaviness I felt outdoors was. . .well, thicker inside. “The animals avoided the living room,” she said.
I took out a pair of dowsing rods and stood in the center of their living room. For a few seconds I felt . But only I turned to mention to Jessica, the sticks spun to my best. I believed something was in my private space and was correct in my head. The heaviness was overwhelming.
I caught Jessica’s saying. She whimpered softly. “It’s here.” I focused and I sensed a presence. It had been sentient but quite’alien’ feeling. Nothing like a ghost, demon or poltergeist. I felt as if it was scrutinizing me. Studying me. For a reason I had been reminded of Edward Gorey’s’Insect God’ poem. I then had the belief of something pushing itself into my head. I then knew what Jessica meant by TV static. White sound. I let my mood slowly build up and pushed back from this invasive existence.
I had the impression I pushed away something from me but hard. I felt the heaviness decrease from the living area. I plodded over into an easy chair and sat downagain. I felt tired. But something was not perfect. Jessica was still staring at me. I inquired what was wrong. “You just froze and stared to your right for such a long time,” she mumbled. I looked at my watch and had been fearful.
My watch see 2:15pm. I had been standing for an hour. I experienced lost time.
Two – 4pm local time:
I kept hearing footfalls from over me. Not about the 2nd floor. Not on the roof however onto the ceiling.
Feelings of being stared at, inspected, and glared at resumed. The dowsing sticks felt warmer than unusual. At one stage something tried to yank them out of my hands. Things kept clicking. We noticed movement in the kitchen but were too fearful to explore.
5:30 – 6pm local time:
All weirdness had finally stopped. We then decided to try and unwind. About 5:30pm I had been conscious of the sensation of being stared in the back. I left the bedroom we were at and made my way downstairs.
Every step of the way saw me seeing something out of the corner of my attention like they directly behind me into the side.
Something was following me. Of this, I am not confused.
3:00am local time:
Nothing happened for the remainder of the night until 3am.
The pungent odor of something compound slowly disappeared. It had been stronger from the living area.
As I walked round the living room the odor seemed to accompany me.
We then heard the shuffling scraping sound on the roof. I went outside with a powerful flashlight. Nothing had been seen however I believed some thing irresistible in me. At the moment a call came from 212-689-1212. I let it ring till it stopped. No voicemail. I called the number. It had been disconnected. Google and phone tracing sites provided no help to the deceased number.
Wednesday April 7th:
The IV from the sack kept turning and waking up. She made around unplug the TV. Nothing happened for the remainder of the day. Nothing was listed onto my cameras or digital recorder much for my annoyance.
Thursday April 8th:
I’d horrible dreams all throughout out the night of a giant eye popping me out of the chimney. The sound heard was equally disconcerting. It had been static-filled using a metallic voice .
I discovered the pets hiding from the hall cupboard deeply entrenched at the corner. I cried at the way their eyes were full of fear.
Friday April 9th – 7:45pm local time:
Jessica had the strange senses of something with coarse fur touching her face and body .
8:56pm local time:
The sharp chemical odor came back.
9:20pm local time:
We discovered rattling sounds from the cupboards. Dog was complaining.
11:30pm local time:
We both experienced the white sound sensation again. This moment in her mattress. Jessica whimpered and hid under the covers. I heard the floorboards creak as something invisible was walking round our mattress.
Saturday April 9th – 4:40am local time:
A heavy pressure on the mattress woke us up with a start. We found a set of indentations from the mattress. When I got out of bed I had the belief of something leaving the room.
Nothing further happened before I left for home.

NOTE: this is atypical activity related to the Mothman phenomenon, however, through the events in Point Pleasant, WV at 1966-67, there certainly are a number of other unexplained episodes throughout the period. These included UFO sightings, increased soul power and MIB experiences. Also, 55 miles north nearby Parkersburg, WV, Woodrow Derenberger needed his 2 experiences using a saucer-shaped UFO along with the occupant’Indrid Cold.’ Can it be Indrid Cold still among us? Was the call obtained by Jessica authorities related or something entirely different? Intriguing case which we’ll continue to explore. Lon
