JustICE Served: German Police Carry Away Ford F-150 Blocking EV Charger

As it happens, it’s not only pick owners of pickup trucks in the United States that engage in ICE-ing, the act of obstructing EV chargers with internal combustion motor cars. The owner of one Ford F-150 Raptor in Germany thought doing the same is a good idea. It wasn’t.

Images posted up from the Polizei Berlin accounts on Twitter on the weekend reveal a first-generation F-150 Raptor parked right in front of a charging channel. Not only that but the huge pickup truck is currently taking up two parking spaces, forcing the owner of a Tesla Model S that needed the charger to park half in a space and half to the street.

Authorities definitely weren’t having any of it and soon turned up using a flatbed truck complete with a crane they used to lift the Ford from their parking space and onto the truck, carrying it away and (hopefully) instructing the F-150 owner a significant lesson.

Police harbor ’t said what happened to the pickup after it had been removed but it is believed to have been impounded.

The phenomenon of ‘ICE-ing’ first surfaced in late December following a string of incidents of fossil-fuelled vehicles obstructing charging stations in the U.S.. A set of states across the United States have since drawn up laws to prevent EV distances. These include Oregon, Illinois, Florida, Hawaii, Washington State, Arizona, California, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Evidently, ICE-ing is particularly frowned upon in Germany. Rightfully so.
