Lexus has been intended to unveil its first ever car with autonomous driving capabilities this year, albeit only using Level 2 autonomy initially. Once over-the-air upgrades start to roll up, the system will get.
This new version was clarified by Lexus president Koji Sato as “hands but not off eyes,” in an interview using Autonews Europe. “It will start from Level 2 so that for the long run we can update the level but it’ll have updates. ”
The Lexus manager didn’t define whether clients will have to pay extra in order to trigger the autonomous feature – similar to the way Tesla works from the U.S.. He also didn’t say that this version will debut the system.

This Lexus version will feature a self-driving system called Highway Teammate, made by Denso. It employs LiDAR as well as cameras to assist the automobile navigate. The vehicle will be able follow lanes to automatically switch lanes and pass other vehicles.
