Maggie Rogers has spoken about her and Phoebe Bridgers’ pay of ‘Iris’, calling it a “weird, wild interior joke”.

Ahead of this US presidential election last November, Bridgers tweeted: “if trump loses I shall cover iris by the goo goo dolls”.

When Joe Biden was verified to be the next President of the United States, the artist retained to her word and also roped Rogers in to help her out. They released the cover for a download for 24 hours, with proceeds going to Democrat Stacey Abrams’ voting rights organisation, Fair Fight.

Speaking to WSJ Magazine for a profile of Bridgers, Rogers stated of the pay : “She understands civilization and, with ‘Iris’, I was just following her guide.

“It was all this weird, wild interior joke that somehow everybody else was on. It’s funny to understand a friend too nicely, but as an artist getting to watch her in the studio… watching her job only make everything feel. ”

Elsewhere in the profile, Bridgers talked about her album ‘Punisher’, which premiered last year amid the coronavirus pandemic. “I believe I would have made an apocalyptic album if there was no apocalypse,” she explained.
