A new Tesla Semi with a white paint project, updated window layout, smoked headlights, and updated tail lights has been spotted in Sacramento, California. While the automobile ’s sighting appeared brief, the pictures suggest that Tesla has executed some notable modifications to this Semi’s layout.

The newest Semi images were shared by Tesla owner The Kilowatts, who was able to snap a couple photographs of this vehicle as it was being transported via trailer. According to the EV set, the trailer transporting the vehicle appeared to be heading towards Reno, NVand also the site of Giga Nevada. Instantly evident in the photographs was that the newest Semi appeared slightly different compared to the two prototypes which have been undergoing real-world testing since late 2017.

These modifications are evident in the front of the vehicle, which now seem to sport smoked headlights, providing the Semi an overall clean, sleek look that complimented its white paint project. The windows of this newly spotted Semi also appears to expand further into the face of the vehicle, when compared with the two prototypes which Tesla has been around for over two decades. The Model 3-style door handles in the original prototypes have been replaced as well.

These changes continued well into the rear of the newly spotted Semi, which features an updated tail lighting design. The elements directly behind the cabin of this Class 8 all-electric truck have also been updated, with all the newest Semi sporting exactly what appears like a more compact equipment setup.

In late December, reports by the EV community indicated that four new Tesla Semis were built at Gigafactory Nevada, all of which would allegedly feature an updated battery package featuring higher-density “2170 L” cells. A couple of the newest Semis will allegedly be used for road testing, an individual will be used for durability testing, and another one will be sent to Alaska for cold-weather testing. Many Tesla Semi-related project openings to get Gigafactory Nevada were published on the company’s Careers page not long later.

The current Tesla Semi sighting suggest that the electric vehicle maker is actively making adjustments to the Class 8 truck as it gets closer to manufacturing. A number of those changes have been teased by the EV neighborhood, together with noted Tesla owner-hacker @greentheonly saying that the Semi will likely feature a 10-camera setup, far less than the 26 which were used in the company’s original prototypes.
