While creation for its Polestar 1 is penalized, the Volvo-owned automaker has shown its second model, the all-electric 2, will take about the Tesla Model 3 as its own mainstream zero-emissions offering.

North American Polestar manager, Greg Hembrough informed InsideEVs “there is a commendable new EV contender coming to the marketplace in 2019, also it’s coming together with 91 decades of engineering prowess behind this. ”

Hembrough didn’t disclose much about its pricing, but confirmed that the 2 will probably compete for the same economy as the Model 3. “We could ’t confirm pricing at this point, however I can tell you the car will be competitive at that segment,” he included.

Reports have indicated the Polestar 2 – that will include multiple battery alternatives – may be sold from US$38,000 (RM159k), that is slightly higher compared to the base US$35,000 (RM146k) price of the Model 3.

These reports also stated that the range-topping 2 may boast a maximum driving range of 560 kilometers on a single charge (figure likely to be analyzed depending on the brand new WLTP criteria ), of which is priced at US$63,400 (RM265k). Comparatively, the Model 3 Long Range includes a maximum selection of 537 kilometers based on EPA protocols, also starts far reduced in US$49,000 (RM205k).

Other than that, we all know nothing of the 2. However, a design concept will be shown at the initial quarter of 2019, also Polestar will seemingly not charge on having a design layout approach to get its mass-scale compact car detected.

“When I sit at the showroom in Polestar, as recently as two weeks back, to see the design language of the vehicles, they’re surprising and refreshing but perhaps not polarising,” Hembrough stated, pointing to the Jaguar I-Pace as an instance of a “polarising” layout.

Hembrough stated its US offensive will soon be staggered along the west shore, where it will open Polestar outlets in locales such as premium clothing shops, where customers can run test drives.

The majority of Polestar’s retail and service operations will be done via smartphone apps. Naturally, exactly like the Polestar 1, clients can decide to “encounter ” the automobile to get a subscription basis, in which they could cover a monthly fee to rent alternative vehicles inside the Volvo and Polestar range. Production of the Polestar 2 will start later in 2019 at China.
