Porsche Taycan win against Tesla Model S is suspicious, says veteran drag racer

Just recently, motoring publication Top Gear Published a video comparing the Porsche Taycan Turbo S into the Tesla Model S Performance. The publication featured a drag race between the 2 vehicles that ended with all the Taycan taking the win from the Model S. The quarter-mile race appeared to be a clean win to your Porsche, but according to a veteran drag racer, there are some aspects to say the very least, suspicious.

Brooks of DragTimes has extensive experience on the drag strip, being the proprietor of vehicles such as the McLaren 720S along with the brand new Ford GT. Having a garage filled with straight-line that is countless races and cars under his belt, Brooks knows a thing or 2 about drag racing. His encounters with his Model S P100D make him a Tesla proprietor who knows all the quirks of the all-electric sedan inside outside when launching from a straight line.

Bearing this in mindthe veteran drag racer noted that there appears to be several things that are wrong regarding the results of Top Gear‘s quarter-mile race involving the Porsche Taycan Turbo S along with the Tesla Model S Performance. The ebook book recorded the Model S’ 0-60 mph time at 2.68 seconds, its own 0-100 mph at 6.46 moments, and its own quarter-mile time at 11.08 seconds at 124.0 mph. The DragTimes server noted that this immediately rings some alarm bells, since the Model S Performance is known to clock 10.6-second quarter-mile times frequently.

But it gets weirder. Looking at the figures recorded by Top Gear after the 2 vehicles’ drag race, so it seems that the publication essentially copy-pasted the specific same functionality figures of the Model S from a race against a Mercedes AMG E63S from 2017. This, according to Brooks, is highly suspicious, since the odds of a vehicle having the same mph, 0-100 mph time, and snare speed in two drag races are amazingly thin.

Apart from this, the DragTimes host contended the Model S that raced against the Taycan Turbo S didn’t appear to maintain Launch Mode. This is the reason the Model S Exercises once Launch Mode is engaged, a thing that didn’t appear to occur in Top Gear‘s movie. The motoring novel did not appear to participate the capacities of Ludicrous Plus Mode too, as the graphics on the automobile ’s MCU and instrument cluster do not feature the same settings as a Model S using its functionality enabled.

Top Gear noted that the Porsche Taycan Turbo S finished the quarter-mile within 10.69 seconds, which is 0.39 seconds quicker than the Model S’ 11.08-second quarter-mile time. Brooks noted that in drag races, even a 0.39-second gap would usually correspond to about four car lengths. This is pretty odd since in the Top Gear movie, the Taycan Turbo S was just 1 car length before the Model S Performance when it crossed the quarter-mile mark.

When the DragTimes sponsor ’s observations are right, then it usually means that Top Gear misrepresented the Tesla Model S in its own current relative video contrary to the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. This is unfortunate, since the two vehicles are actually neck-in-neck, and they do contain functionality that could make a thrilling drag race. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a excellent vehicle and its own two-speed gearbox will give it an edge within the Tesla Model S Performance at high rates.

To Put It simply, that the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a worthy competitor with got the potential to win against a Raven Tesla Model S Performance with Launch Mode and Ludicrous Plus honest and square. Misrepresentations, whether intentional or not do Porsche an injustice. The Model S deserves greater, along with the Taycan Turbo S does.
