Renault Sold 62,447 Electric Vehicles In 2019 – More Than Ever Before

Tesla continues to lead the electric car race however other auto makers are also experiencing greater demand for their EVs, for example Renault.

In 2019the French automaker offered a total of 62,447 electric cars across the world, a substantial jump up from the approximately 49,300 EVs it sold in 2018 and the 36,300 sold back in 2017.

The huge majority of EVs marketed by Renault arrived in the form of the cute Zoe, shifting a total of 48,269 units during 2019 and 4,853 in December. The next hottest EV from Renault is the Kangoo Z.E. (10,349 units sold) followed closely by China’s City K-ZE together using 2,658 sales and also the Master Z.E. with 296 sales. The Renault SM3 Z.E. sold exclusively in South Korea accounted for 875 sales.

These figures do not include the Renault Twizy as it is considered a quadricycle based on the marketplace.

“Group sales rose in the last quarter as a result of the success of new launches in the category ’s core markets like Europe, Russia, and in India, in which Renault is growing strongly,” earnings and regions executive vice president of Groupe Renault, Olivier Murguet stated.

“In 2020, we’ll gain from full-year earnings of our best-selling New Clio and New Captur, in addition to the acceleration of our electric and hybrid , notably with all New Zoe, Twingo Z.E. and E-Tech technology. We will continue to improve our price positioning pioneered endorsed by our newest products’ high quality and beauty,” the executive said.
