A renovated Belmont home has earned a $211,000 jump in value in three years after selling at auction on Saturday.

The four-bedroom weatherboard house at 95 Mt Pleasant Rd was snapped up at Saturday’s auction for $1.076 million.

Aggressive bidding between two parties pushed the price from the $940,000 opening bid to its conclusion is a short time.

The underbidder was a party from Melbourne acting over the through a bidder in the crowd.

Buyers Josh Howells and Jess Hickey themselves relocated from Melbourne a few years ago.

“We moved from Melbourne and bought a house in Geelong about two or three years ago in North Geelong which we liked,” Mr Howells said.

“And then since living in Geelong for a couple of years, we just thought the river was the most beautiful part of Geelong

“We were looking for a family home with more space.

“We thought it was the most unique one in the area. The others were a bit more modern, which we don’t always love — the way they’ve restored some of the old stuff is great.

“So we really liked it.”

Maxwell Collins, Geelong agent Shaun Carroll said it was a wonderful home perfect for young couples and families.

He said the house featured polished timber floors and high ceilings throughout, with a fantastic open plan living and dining area with a wood heater.
