Although the Ford Mustang Mach-E isn’t anticipated to arrive until late next year, you can bet that both GM and Fiat Chrysler are keeping a look out for just how powerful that the Blue Oval’s Tesla Model Y rival is going to be.
The question is, do rival automakers look in the Mach-E as much more of a fascination, nor are they planning their own EV and/or higher-end crossovers with amazingly iconic badges? We re inclined to think the latter situation is likely.
In reality, here’s what Chevy advertising boss Steve Majoros told CNBC a week in the LA Auto Show with respect to a possible Corvette-based SUV: “We’re flattered by the attention. We re quite happy with the Corvette we now all ’ve made to market, here, right after we turn the calendar from 2020. What future plans arewe’ll see. ” That sounds like a definitely maybe.

Meanwhile, the GM CEO Mary Barra has been asked a similar question by Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas, responding “We’ll, I love that you think our Corvette franchise is extremely powerful. I m not going to speak about [the] future. ”
Jonas really thinks that the Corvette brand is “undervalued and underappreciated by the current marketplace and that it’s time for GM to admit that we’re changing. . “It’s no moment to consider the capacity of GM’s supercar brand,” Jonas explained, adding it could function “more than a needle-mover to get GM” helping it increase Corvette volutes five-fold to 80,000 units by the mid 2020s.
Do we want a Corvette-based SUV?
Well, that depends. Should we re talking about something that’s entirely electrical, then the solution is YES. The two GM as well as FCA know that Ford cannot be permitted free reign because the only Model Y challenger. But Corvette though? GM can use the Camaro branding.

Actually, the above rendering of a Corvette SUV by Allcarnews is based upon the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer, which in turn draws some inspiration in the Camaro. The designer did tighten up the bodywork, lowered the roof and added the Vette mug, plus the bigger wheels and wider fenders.

Obviously, when you would like ’t wish a hypothetical talk concerning an all-electric Chevy EV, all you need to do is look at the new Menlo that was just published in China earlier this season. Based on specs, it can pay 255 miles (410 km) on a full charge under NEDC conditions. But if it does feature the 148 HP electric motor as the Buick Velite 6 EV, afterward it’s s definitely no match for the Mach-E.
Do you think that it ’s time for GM to unleash Mustang Mach-E competition? And if so, should it be a Corvette, a Camaro or with the prior targeting higher-end, luxury brands and the next, much more mainstream versions, like their coupe siblings?
