U.S. starts remain a priority throughout the coronavirus pandemic. But that doesn’t mean that launching suppliers aren’t feeling its consequences. SpaceX and United Launch Alliance are currently progressing full steam ahead, handling its launching manifests as if everything had been status quo.

But, SpaceX has begun to feel the effects of the virus. To begin with, its forthcoming SAOCOM 1B launch, that was initially slated to liftoff later that month, was placed on indefinite hold. That’s because the payload is still an Argentinian satellite, and Argentina has put strict travel restrictions in place.

The postpone doesn’t come as much surprise as countries around the globe put limitations to mitigate the impacts of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which leads to the COVID-19 disease. This virus was wreaking havoc across the globe, while healthcare systems.

But even though being an essential business and having to stay open, it doesn’t mean that SpaceX is immune. This week, two employees at the company’s headquarters tested positive for the virus.

A minumum of one health care worker and one employee have tested positive, together with others that came in contact with these people sent to quarantine themselves. The SpaceX employee had traveled globally, and the provider is currently getting more thermometers to run employee screenings.

One Medical, that offers health services on site at SpaceX HQ, trained its employees (and anyone else) who exhibit symptoms of the disease to stay home and get tested immediately.

The business has also begun to take steps to help themselves are protected by its employees. This involves producing hand sanitizer and face shields, which the organization plans to create in surplus in order to donate to local hospitals. Furthermore, the business is furnishing spreading work stations as well as more sanitizing options.

As of now, U.S. launches are untouched, aside from the SAOCOM launching. This is because SpaceX and other launching suppliers encourage national security missions, and infrastructure such as GPS, and are therefore deemed essential. So employees aren’t feeling well or have to report to work unless they are able to telework.

The organization had planned on launching two astronauts for NASA as soon as May. That date may be after two anomalies that are . SpaceX launched its most recent batch of Starlink satellites on March 18, using a veteran Falcon 9 aircraft to attic them. Even the five-time flier experienced an issue with one of its motors throughout flight.

Because of this, the booster was not able to land around the ship phased out from the Atlantic. Following the launching, SpaceX announced it would be investigating the matter. NASA has joined in the investigation to make certain everything is as it must be using the Falcon 9.

That anomaly, combined with the fact that SpaceX’s latest parachute evaluation went awry, means the forthcoming crew mission may be delayed. From how much and if it will are yet to be determined.
