SpaceX Starlink rollout continues to uplift rural schools, Native Americans

SpaceX proceeds to generate a stage of deploying nascent Starlink services – frequently at no cost – in a sense that prioritize and uplift African American schools and Native American tribes.

Back in October, phrase broke that SpaceX – throughout Washington state’s Department of Commerce – had partnered with the Hoh Tribe to deliver high-quality internet to multiple houses and facilities. The tribe had nothing but praise for the ceremony after a couple of days of use, honestly stating that “[Starlink] catapulted us into the 21st century.” ”

What a difference high-speed internet can create! Our kids can take part in remote instruction, residents can get #healthcare. We felt as though we all 'd been paddling up-river with a spoon onto this. @SpaceX Starlink created it occur overnight. Thanks @WAStateCommerce for introduction.

Weeks afterwards, Texas’ Ector County Independent School District disclosed which SpaceX would deploy Starlink to houses throughout the area, ensuring – such as the Hoh Tribe – that rural communities having little to no functional online access would continue to have the ability to use essential online services in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.

Glad to see this happening. This is the kind of thing which makes a real difference for children. And it makes that difference NOW, not in 5-10 decades. Well finished, @elonmusk. https://t.co/jABIpDi85c

Most recently, Virginia’s Wise County Public Schools say they’re scheduled to receive 45 (and finally 90+) Starlink kits in SpaceX first next year, bringing high-quality internet to dozens of houses having little to no prior access.

A week prior, Canada’s Pikangikum First Nation also thanked SpaceX for attracting Starlink internet to the fly-in-only neighborhood, in which the very best service available prior ranged from 60 kilobits per second to a few megabits per second – all high-latency.

Like to thank all of the dedicated people at @SpaceX who’ve made #Starlink possible. A particular thank you for the #Pikangikum First Nation for sharing your journey with all people and for the patience and trust you’ve shown. Chi Miigwetch. https://t.co/6qdQYYOcG1

Even though SpaceX does continue to roll out Starlink beta kits to users across the northern US and southern Canada, the company’s clear and continued prioritization of mass deployments in some of the very chronically underserved and adversely impacted areas exemplifies the constellation’s goal: deliver high-quality, low-latency internet to people without.
