Tesla will start ventilators made by equipment company Medtronic in a bid to cover the medical supply deficit because of this COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic.
Medtronic CEO Omar Ishrak appeared on a televised episode of CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” on the afternoon of March 25 to discuss his company’s ramping efforts to boost generation of ventilators and help those affected by the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
“We’re also opening up. Tesla is one which I believe folks have heard of. They will make one of those ventilators , and they’re fast on track to make that as well,” Ishrak said in the CNBC interview.

Musk stated that the Tesla staff is “making progress” toward the development of producing the ventilators in the Fremont production facility. “We shall do whatever is necessary to aid ” he added, in these difficult times.
In reaction to a plea for assistance from New York officials, Musk noticed that its factory in New York is expected to reopen for ventilator production. “Giga New York will suffice to get ventilator generation as humanly possible. We’ll do anything in our power to help the taxpayers of New York,”
Ishrak added that Tesla would be producing the Medtronic Puritan Bennett 980 ventilator, which is the company’s highest-volume product. Tesla is also seeking to start different goods which Medtronic offers.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk began speaking with Medtronic on March 21. After stating that he had just completed an extensive talk with the Medtronics team about the engineering of the ventilators, he added that they had a “very notable team! ” Musk has seemingly struck up a connection with the Medtronic team, as he will now start manufacturing their popular ventilator system.

Musk and Tesla have already made attempts to ease the shortage of ventilator systems from the United States. Lately, Musk announced the purchase and delivery of 1,200 ventilators out of China, noting the nation had an oversupply.
“Yup, China had an oversupply, so we bought 1255 FDA-approved ResMed, Philips & Medtronic ventilators on Friday night & airshipped them to LA.. If you’d like a complimentary ventilator installed, please let us know,” Musk tweeted. The ventilators were sent into the City of Los Angeles earlier this week.
