Tesla has dropped a new teaser picture of the Model Y compact premium crossover before the automobile ’s global premiere on March 14.
This picture, sent out as part of an invitation for the automobile ’s launch, provides a glimpse of the Model Y’s front end. It shows the SUV with a blue paint scheme and unlike previous pictures, depicts the vehicle with traditional wing mirrors.
In typical Tesla fashion, there’s also a hidden Easter Egg in the teaser. As a variety of Tesla enthusiasts recently discovered, trying to liven up the picture indicates some additional details of this vehicle as well as a license plate reading ‘Nice Try’. Tesla is obviously one step ahead of us.
While the teaser itself doesn’t reveal a good deal about the Model Y, it will show its headlights will more closely resemble those of the Model 3 than the larger Model S sedan and Model X SUV.
When Tesla chief executive Elon Musk first declared the Model Y would be unveiled on March 14, he said it will be roughly 10 percent larger than the Model 3 sedan and price about 10 percent more. Additionally, it is reported that the Model Y will share approximately 75 percent of its parts with the Model 3 and will probably be offered with the same powertrain configurations as its sedan sibling.
Tesla initially said that the SUV would ride on a bespoke platform. But, Musk has since decided to use the Model 3’s architecture, likely in an effort to reduce development costs.
