Tesla Full Self-Driving Subscriptions “For Sure” Coming In Q2, 2021

In Q2 2021, Tesla seems to be expanding on one of the most well-known features — complete self-driving. Teslas stand out for a few unique reasons, whether it be their ultra minimalistic interiors, robust smart features, or repeated generation delays. Total self-driving capacity is among the hallmark reasons many individuals buy a Tesla, but with it currently confined to a exorbitant one-time charge, it’s far from being available to lots of shoppers.

CEO Elon Musk previously said a subscription option for complete self-driving would likely be available in late 2020, but that time period came and went without any upgrade. Nonetheless, in late December, Musk said the Telsa full self-driving subscription would be available”early next year.”  Meanwhile, customers have continued to be stuck with a $10,000 purchase so as to unlock complete self-driving, which as stated earlier, is not necessarily ideal.

Thankfully, there’s finally an upgrade around the launch of the Tesla FSD subscription option. In reaction to some person on Twitter, Musk said the subscription for complete self-driving will be published in”Q2 for sure.” After that, he added an additional tweet saying,”Note, buying FSD will still be a better long-term deal than subscription.”  This Q2 timeframe usually means the whole self-driving subscription may launch everywhere between April 1 and June 30, which (somehow) is not that far off.

Even if Musk says the subscription for complete self-driving won’t be as good of a bargain in the long term compared to buying it , this is still an exciting development for potential Tesla owners. Not everyone can afford to shell out the extra $10,000 in addition to a Tesla that prices $37,000 in the bare minimum, but spending a smaller amount each month is a lot more manageable. It’s unclear how much the monthly subscription will cost, but awarded the $10,000 price to buy it , it’s safe to say it’ll be $100/month or longer.

That is why so many folks are looking forward to the launching of a subscription for complete self-driving. There’s an argument to be made that buying a Tesla without complete self-driving is similar to buying the Galaxy S21 Ultra with no own camera system. It’s not essential for a Tesla to work, but it’s also what helps bring the whole experience together. Given the rise of programs like the iPhone Upgrade Program and also Samsung Access where individuals are already accustomed to buying tech in the form of a recurring monthly fee, making this option available for complete self-driving just makes sense — regardless of if Musk believes it’s a great bargain or not. It’s likely the Q2 2021 date will get pushed back , but at least for right now, that is what everyone can look ahead.
