Tesla Giga Berlin will begin producing cars in late-Summer or early-Fall. Following a meeting with the Economic Committee of the Landtag, Brandenburg Economic Minister Jörg Steinbach explained that there shouldn’t be major delays as previously reported.

Steinbach first verified to Teslarati last week that Giga Berlin will be slated to get a late-Summer or early-Autumn begin after questioning accounts of the German mill beginning production in early 2022.

“I don’t have the faintest notion of how anybody can come up with a six-month delay,” Steinbach said to Teslarati within a interview. “If nothing happens from the ordinary, I expect a beginning of production from late Summer or Early Autumn,” the Economic Minister also explained concerning the plant’s expected start time.

The waits until 2022 were originally reported by German media socket Automobilwoche, that signaled that a member of Elon Musk’s personal circle had advised them the Brandenburg-located plant wouldn’t begin generating vehicles before next year, well past the originally expected start time.

EXCLUSIVE: Tesla Giga Berlin isn’t facing a 6-month delay: German Minister

Steinbach, that has stayed close to the project since its institution because of its capacity to provide an economic boost to the local market, has stayed strong on his prediction of a mid-2021 beginning time.

He reaffirmed and reiterated his predictions made to Teslarati to the Economic Committee of the Landtag in a meeting Wednesday, according to Tagesspiegel.

The delay rumors could largely be attributed to Tesla’s addition of a battery mobile production facility in the Giga Berlin property. After Tesla submitted the programs, its program for the whole project needed to be revised. Though the initial production of vehicles won’t be pushed back because of the addition of a battery production plant, the whole project gets prolonged because of more time being required to finish the facility altogether.

Some other delay rumors could be caused by the extensive process a project of this magnitude must be accepted. German engineer and Tesla enthusiast Alex Voigt explained that some jobs take 3-5 years to gain ultimate approval due to deliberate examination of the programs, the program, as well as the possible environmental effects of a construction project.

“If that additional investment flows into the license application, it goes without mentioning that the program documents have to be revised, then the approval police have the last word,” Brandenburg’s Prime Minister, Dietmar Woidke, said.

Tesla indicated from the Q1 2021 Update Letter that Giga Berlin would begin deliveries and production after this season. The automaker suggested that the German plant’s production stays “on course for late 2021. Machinery for paint, stamping, castings, etc., has been transferred into the building. In the meantime, we will continue to improve import volumes to Europe. ”
