Flows from Tesla Gigafactory 3’s assessment have shown that the electric vehicle maker is seeking to generate Dual Motor AWD Model 3 versions from China as early as the first quarter of 2020.

The leaks, which were shared on Chinese social media platform Weibo, say which Gigafactory 3’s Phase 1B zone may have 3,500 collections of seats, 3,500 collections of “propulsion programs ” along with 7,000 electric motors per week by March 2020. These details sign in the Shanghai-based website hitting a production rate of approximately 3,500 Model 3 per week by the end of Q1 2020.

The Weibo flow also suggested that four key workshops will be placed into operation in December this year. From March 2020, many parts production workshops will likely be activated in Gigafactory 3, permitting the electric vehicle maker to manufacture more of this Model 3’s parts locally. Ahead of this, some portions of the all-electric sedan will likely be erased by the United States.

These recent escapes provide a valuable information point for Tesla’therefore plan in scaling the production capacities of Gigafactory 3. Contemplating that seats and electric motors will be produced onsite by March 2020, it seems safe to ensure that initial Model 3 production in the Shanghai-based website will utilize seats and electric motors that are shipped from Fremont and Gigafactory 1. This specific setup allows Gigafactory 3 to start producing the Model 3 this year, although the facility’s weekly outcome will likely be set by the amount of parts that Tesla’s US facilities could boat over.

Also noteworthy in this specific escape was the fact that Tesla seems to be producing Dual Motor AWD versions of the Model 3 at Gigafactory 3. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said previously the Shanghai-based website will only produce affordable variants of the all-electric sedan, which was interpreted by the electric vehicle community as the Standard Range/Standard Range Plus Model 3. The production of some Dual Motor AWD version signals that Tesla might expand its Model 3 production capacities further than planned.

That said, the recent escapes don’t specify if the Dual Motor AWD vehicles which are going to be produced in Gigafactory 3 are long-range vehicles much like those being supplied by Tesla today. Maybe the Chinese economy will likely probably be offered a Standard Range Dual Motor AWD variant? Such a vehicle, if priced properly, could certainly find a great deal of traction among automobile buyers in the Asian financial superpower.
