Recent flyovers of the Gigafactory Shanghai advanced indicate that work to the Model Y mill is currently progressing at an incredibly quick manner. Constructed with a speed that seems to rival that of the website ’s Model 3 mill last year, the Model Y facility has developed from a field with a couple of articles.

As can be observed recently drone footage in Tesla enthusiast Jason Yang, Gigafactory Shanghai’s Phase 2A place, that has been validated as the Model Y mill in Tesla’s Q1 2020 Update Letter, is forthcoming into form. Roof trusses have been laid on the majority of the construction, and its metal frame appears to be pretty much completed. Thinking about the speed of the buildout so far, it would not be surprising if Tesla China starts paving the roofing and flooring of the facility within the upcoming month.

If one were to have a look at the present condition of the Gigafactory Shanghai complicated, one would see that it matches with the improvement of the Phase 1 construction from late April 2019. Gigafactory Shanghai’s Model 3 facility was built in record time, also adhering to a groundbreaking ceremony in January 2019, the construction ’s metallic frame and roof trusses were nearly done by late April.

Following this, the roof and floor paving were launched, and from the end of May, the Model 3 facility’s mill shell was practically completed. Dependent on the progress of the Model Y mill, it seems that Tesla China and its construction partners are progressing than the buildout of this Model 3 facility. This could bode well for the creation of the Made-in-China Model Y and its eventual release to the market.

After the conclusion of Phase 1’s mill shell from late May 2019, it just took less than four weeks before trial assembly of the Model 3 began from the Phase 1 construction. The pictures of Made-in-China Model 3 trial units being assembled in Gigafactory Shanghai emerged in September 2019, and from October, photos of generation automobiles were being shared on the web. By the end of 2019 deliveries of the Model 3 to Tesla China employees was conducted.

In case the construction from the Phase 2A area matches the speed of the Model 3 mill, it would not be surprising if the Model Y facility starts rolling out trial units from the beginning of the fourth quarter. In case Tesla China will accelerate its pace even further, then the concept of initial Model Y deliveries happening before the end of the calendar year actually becomes quite feasible. The Model Y shares 75 percent of the Model 3’so components, after all, and it’s made to be built with automation in mind. As it turns out, Tesla’s China team happens to excel.
