Tesla has not yet been awarded the “green light” to start its own factory in Fremont, Calif., Alameda County Health Officer Dr. Erica Pan stated in a videostreamed city hall meeting Friday.

Tesla created plans to start as soon as Friday at defiance of this county’s prolonged order.

Tesla stated in an email sent Thursday, which TechCrunch has seen, that it was planning to resume operations” at the Fremont mill, which is situated in Alameda County. Tesla’s conclusion is in direct conflict with a stay-at-home sequence in Alameda County.

Alameda health and county officials are now working with Tesla and have examined their safety programs for reopening, Pan said. “We’Id asked them to wait patiently,” she added.

Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.

Workers received two emails — one from CEO Elon Musk and yet the other from Valerie Workman, the company’s human resources director — suggesting that the mill would start as soon as Friday. The decision to start was based on new guidance from Gov. Gavin Newsom, who stated Thursday that producers can resume operations. But, Newsom’s guidance contained a warning that governments will keep rules that are more restrictive .

Alameda County, along with several other Bay Area counties and cities, issued revised reluctantly orders that will endure at the end of May. These orders that are revised did ease a few of the limitations. It did not raise the order for manufacturing.

Pan and health officials from the other Bay Area counties need businesses like Tesla to wait patiently until they can be sure that there isn’t a effect from the loosening constraints. They also need to make sure that businesses have time to plan their own reopening to ensure they’re pursuing best practices.

“We are really asking our facilities that our local health order prevails and to wait until we’ve got yet another week or so under our belt to see what has happened after we did that first round of lifting restrictions,” Pan said.

The Alameda County Health Department advised TechCrunch that it every one has advised Tesla of “each one of the states that must exist for phasing at the secure of different sectors of the area and the market. ”

It can not reopen, if a company does not satisfy the limited criteria therefore.

“Tesla was advised that they do not meet those criteria and shouldn’t reopen,” a spokesperson for the county health department said in an emailaddress. “We advised Tesla’s proactive work on a strategy that is reopening that once they match the criteria to reopen, they’re able to do this in a way that protects their employees and the community at large. ”
