Tesla helps owners in Hurricane Michael’s path with temporary range upgrade, free Supercharging



Since Hurricane Michael approached East Coast with its monstrous power, Tesla Model S 40, S 60, and S 70 owners obtained an update. The patch unlocked the vehicles ’ battery pack’s full capacity, giving them up to 30-40 kilometers of variety. Tesla owners who fled from Michael also discovered that Supercharging was complimentary in areas impacted by the hurricane.

This is not the first time which Tesla has done this app. This past year, the electrical vehicle company rolled out a temporary upgrade for owners who were at Hurricane Irma’s route . Last month, temporary battery upgrades and Supercharging were given to owners who fled from Hurricane Florence. In a statement, the electrical vehicle maker noticed that would probably see different badging after the over-the-air update. Owners will be informed later on when their cars will be reverted back to their initial configuration.

“We are allowing your vehicle to access battery capacity, as well as complimentary Supercharging, in preparation for Hurricane Michael. Tesla’s temporary range upgrade is possible as a result of Model S 40, S 60, and S 70 vehicles being outfitted with larger battery packs. When the business was producing the Model S, Tesla opted to optimize its creation by equipping its lower-trim cars with larger battery packs which were software-limited. So, Model S 40 vehicles have been launched with a 60 kWh battery pack that’s software-limited to 40 kWh.
