Tesla was spied testing a Model S Plaid prototype at the Laguna Seca track in California.

Particular elements of this prototype remain under wraps but it may be the flagship Plaid+ version that promises to be among the quickest production vehicles on the industry.

The red prototypetook into WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca past week and apparently completed laps at the 1:30 scope, fitting the times posted by Model S Plaid prototypes seen testing at exactly the same circuit at September last year.

Pictures shared with Twitter show that the prototype was rocking a rollcage in the back. One particularly interesting feature of the prototype is a flexible rear wing that has been neatly integrated into the decklid and pops up when required.

Tesla asserts the flagship Model S Plaid+ may comprise a trio of electrical motors that combine to produce in excess of 1,100 hp. That won’t only make this most powerful sedan in creation but will allegedly allow it to reach 60 miles (96 km/h) in less than 2 seconds (though this claim is questionable), and complete the quarter-mile in less than 9 seconds. What’s more, the Model S Plaid+ will apparently have the ability to reach 200 miles (320 km/h) and travel up to 520 miles (836 km) on a single charge.
