Tesla Kicking Inattentive Drivers Off “Full Self Driving” Beta Testing

Tesla owners, why are you getting excited to try out the much-hyped FSD (Full Self-Driving) autonomous driving attribute in Beta testing form? You had better make and maintain a tradition of keeping your eyes on the road.

FSD Beta has been enlarged to ~2000 owners & we’t also revoked beta at which drivers did not pay enough attention to the road. No accidents thus far.

Next important release is going to probably be in April. Dealing with pure vision — perhaps not even using radar. Here is the way to real-world AI.

Apparently, the machine is still in its infancy and in evolution. At this point, Tesla has three methods to detect a driver’s focus level: Steering induce, the seat sensor, and the in-cabin camera.

Autonomous driving–and where responsibility lies in case of an accident–is an extremely difficult problem to resolve out. The road to completely autonomous driving, Full Self Driving or otherwise, is quite long but tech probably will arrive. Tesla is definitely pushing the bounds of testing such setups by releasing an “autonomous-adjacent” attribute to the general public and collecting data in their use of the machine. However, it cannot be emphasized enough: No issue the FSD platform ’s capacity, it requires a careful pilot to monitor whether the machine is really doing its job.
