Tesla is rolling out a new advanced alarm system called Sentry Mode, as well as new security for pets left in the automobile called Dog Mode, that sets a comfortable cabin temperature while the car’s owner is away.
Sentry Mode might just be exactly what the Viper alerts of the 1970s and ’80s might have become had they been updated by the likes of Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The system continuously monitors the automobile ’s surrounding environment as it’s left unattended. It begins with ldquo & a;standby” state, which utilizes the automobile ’s cameras to look for possible threats, the automaker claims. It moves itself into “alert” standing if there’s a “minimum ” hazard, wherever a message on the automobile ’s enormous center touchscreen support onlookers that the cameras are recording.
If the threat escalates into the likes of a broken window, then the alarm triggers, the brightness of the center screen is cranked up, along with the audio system performs music at maximum volume, even while the owner is alerted his or her mobile program. A recording of the incident remotely can be downloaded by the operator. The video recording starts 10 minutes before the incident, given the owner has added a formatted USB drive into the car before allowing Sentry Mode.
Tesla started adding Sentry Mode for its owners’ vehicles starting Wednesday via upgrades, according to a press release.

Tesla’s enormous center screen also is key to the brand new Dog Mode, which the firm announced on Twitter. Dog Mode sets a cottage temperature that keeps both owners’ pets comfortable when the driver produces a block and leaves the car. The center screen lets any worried passersby know the pets are secure with messages such as “My owner is going to return soon” while prominently displaying the interior temperature.
Dog Mode also is being added to each of Teslas through update.
