The Tesla Model 3’s 82 kWh battery pack has been officially listed one of the vehicles eligible for California’s Clean Fuel Reward web site. The update supports previous reports about a key battery upgrade for the 2021 Model 3, which was launched by Tesla in its own online configurator from mid-October.
Initial reports concerning the 2021 Tesla Model 3’s fresh battery pack came from early November when customers in Europe noticed their all-electric sedans were recorded by an 82 kWh battery powered in their automobiles ’ documentation. Formerly, the Model 3 Long Range variant was recorded with a 75 kWh pack.

California’s Clean Fuel Reward web site contains a listing of vehicles that are eligible for the incentive, which could go as large as $1,500 per purchase depending on how big an EV’s battery life. The Model 3, which was recorded with a 75 kWh pack for the 2019 and 2020 version years, included an entry for a 82 kWh pack in 2021.
The California Clean Fuel Reward site did not specify the version of this Model 3 that is outfitted with an 82 kWh battery pack. Considering the vehicles are made at the Fremont factory, there is a good possibility it would be the Dual Motor AWD and Performance models.
The 2021 Model 3’s 82 kWh battery pack is but one of the subtle improvements that Tesla has rolled out to its best-selling all-electric sedan. Apart from its bigger battery, that the Model 3 is outfitted with fresh chrome-deleted trims, new brakes, a new center console, and much more to the point, a heating pump. Along with the heating pump, the Model 3’s 82 kWh battery pack probably improved the selection of Tesla’s popular sedan.
