Tesla Model 3 AWD haunts muscle cars and tuned imports in multiple drag races

There’s no doubt the Tesla Model 3 is still a quick vehicle. As a result of the instant torque supplied by its own electrical motors, the vehicle’s most conservative variant — the Mid Range Model 3 RWD — boasts acceleration which ’s at the same ballpark as entry-level muscle cars like the 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost. Even the Model 3 Performance, the electrical automobile ’s top-tier variant, is almost uncannily quick with a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds. That’s closing in on supercar land.

Considering that the Model 3 began rolling off the Fremont mill en masse, the amount of drag racing movies showcasing the electrical sedan has increased. As owners of the vehicle quickly discovered, after all, the Model 3 shares a Great Deal of the DNA present in its two larger siblings — the Model S and also the Model X — which means that they are a force to be reckoned with around the drag strip.   So far, however, the vast majority of Model 3 haul races which are available on the internet involve the vehicle’s Performance version.

What’s largely been evasive are drag races between the Model 3’s mid-tier variant — the regular, non-Performance AWD. Just like the Performance version, the regular Model 3 AWD is equipped with dual motors. The automobile is quite quick on its right also, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 145 mph. Beginning at $53,000 before options such as Autopilot, it may almost be said the non-Performance Model 3 AWD is your maximum bang-for-your-buck, if a tad bit underrated, cut of the electrical sedan.

While races between the regular Model 3 AWD are pretty rare, among YouTube’s auto-themed channels, 7zerex, has shared that which could well be the juiciest collection of drag races featuring the non-Performance Model 3 AWD thus far. From the movie, a white Model 3 AWD may be seen challenging lots of powerful opponents, such as muscle cars like Ford Mustangs and tuned markets like the Subaru Impreza. 1 run even involved a struggle with what seemed to be a timeless staged Nissan Skyline GTR.

As could be observed in the movie, the non-Performance Model 3 AWD haunted its rivals, beating every one off the line and yanking hard until the conclusion of the 1/8 mile. Also notable in the drag races’ results were the consequences of the Model 3’therefore results. In each of its races, the electrical sedan managed to finish its runs at the non 8s. That’s not too much in the results of the Model 3 Performance, which generally runs the 1/8 mile in the mid-7s.

Nevertheless, the successes of the Model 3 AWD are very understandable. The automobile, afterwards, has been competing at a drag racing match arranged by RaceLegal.com, which can be held at the SDCCU Stadium at San Diego, CA. According to the race’s planner on its own site, it only hosts 1/8-mile races now because of constraints in track period. For a car with instant torque like the Model 3 AWD, these brief races are almost tailor-fit. Had the races now no longer, a number of the electrical sedan’s rounds against its competitors might have ended differently.

But to get a non-Performance variant of the Model 3, an evening spent decimating muscle building and tuned imports isn’t too bad in any respect.
