The Tesla Model 3 again won the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ award, marking the third successive year the all-electric sedan appeared on the list.
The IIHS published its list of the Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ award winners on Wednesday, February 24. In general, 90 vehicles were recorded in the 2 subcategories, expanding the list from only 64 cars last year.

“With these awards, we want to ensure it is simple for consumers to discover vehicles that provide very good protection in crashes, adequate lighting, and powerful front collision coverage,” IIHS President David Harkey stated. “Manufacturers have awakened to fulfill with up with the challenge, and also the list of great options has become an impressive size this season. ”
While plenty of fresh vehicles made it onto the list, several cars returned to this list after being cited last year. Among them was the Tesla Model 3, marking its third consecutive appearance on the IIHS list for cars that are safe. Even the Model 3’s original appearance was in 2019, the year following its initial complete fiscal production drive in 2018. Deliveries of this Model 3 started in 2017, however it was at the second half of this year.
The 2021 Model 3 holds best marks in each of the IIHS Crashworthiness categories, along with each one potential stage in Crash Avoidance and Mitigation. It’s one of the most comprehensive vehicles to be published and graded by the IIHS, especially since crash test ratings for the car received high marks in each one category: Lower Leg/Foot to the Driver-Side overlap front obtained an “Acceptable” rating, while every other area of the vehicle preserved a “Good” tier, the highest possible rating.

The Model 3 is currently recorded in the “Midsize Luxury Cars” segment and is joined from the Acura TLX, Lexus ES 350, Lexus IS, Volvo S60, Volvo S60 Recharge, Volvo V60, and the Volvo V60 Recharge.
One of its three-peat on the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award, the Model 3 has also won a lot of accolades from the NHTSA, Consumer Reports, Edmunds, and other foreign books , who’ve all mentioned the all-electric sedan’s versatility as a secure, high-performance automobile that has truly changed the automotive industry as a whole.
