Tesla Model 3 survey reveals much-improved build quality and a happier owners community

An extensive survey of 5,000 Tesla Model 3 owners ran by Bloomberg shows that buyers are discovering increasingly enhanced auto build quality and an overall uptick in favorable ownership experience. Bloomberg’s four-part, 164-question survey has attracted mixed responses from Tesla owners because the survey began in 2018. But with a noticeable upward trend in proprietor satisfaction over time, one can assume that Tesla advancing upon them and was paying keen attention to customer feedback that is adverse.

Looking back in Tesla’s history, especially the timeframe once the electrical carmaker was at the trenches of manufacturing hell, difficulties concerning improper paint, body gaps, badly installed parts, and digital glitches were widely reported by Model 3 owners. Early buyers reported deficiencies in vehicle build quality, including Consumer Reports who fell its recommendation of Tesla’s affordable motor car or truck. A Finnish Model 3 proprietor claimed so many problems with their vehicle ’ s decorative appearance after 1,300 kilometers of driving which it prompted them to seek a third-party opinion on the vehicle ’ s quality that they experienced. The described Tesla Model 3’s paint as “ soft ”, noting that they were able to scrape on the coloring with very little effort. Reports of quality control, leading with body panel gaps above market standards, and components that are environmental, Bloomberg’s poll of Model 3 owners reveals a greater downturn rating in 2018 compared to today.

Considering that Bloomberg’s poll began at 2018, Tesla has generated changes in the vehicle’s difficulties. In reaction to harsh criticism from industry specialists on Model 3’s build quality, CEO Elon Musk took mentioned Tesla’s growing effort to enhance its manufacturing procedure.  “Since we began shipping Model 3 we’ve been very focused on refining and tuning body and part manufacturing processes. The consequence being that the standard deviation of gaps and offsets across the entire car has improved, typically, by nearly 40 percent, with back quarter panel, back lamps and specific gap improvements visible in the area of the trunk. ”

As the company scaled out of what some believed a boutique automaker in the days of this Tesla Roadster to mainstream electric car maker, Tesla’s decorative problems have been related to growing pains. During iterations in streamlining production and advancing upon its overall manufacturing procedure, Tesla’s commitment to implementing and studying effective processes has translated into a much-improved construct quality which hasn’t. Retired automobile industry veteran Bob Lutz, who has been vocally critical of Tesla in the past, has noted the new gaps have been improved upon as much that they measure up to being “world class ”. The opinion among Model 3 owners polled in Bloomberg’s survey measured up, with a single reacting, “No apparent panel openings paint, along with fitment of body and inside stuff. ”
