Tesla Model S shows drastic consistency improvements after update, ties Taycan in Car & Driver test

Back in February, prestigious motoring book Car and Driver pitted that against the Tesla Model S Performance against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. And while the book finally granted the win to the Model S due to its value for cash, the evaluations showed the Taycan had the greater functionality between the 2 vehicles. This was especially true in regards to consecutive runs.

The Model S turned against the Taycan at rolling-start 5-60 miles runs, however in sprints to the quarter-mile, the Tesla ended up being slower than the Porsche. The book noted that on its own hero run, the Model S Performance was able to reach 60 mph in 2.5 minutes, which was only 0.1 seconds slower compared to Taycan Turbo S’ 2.4 minutes. However, the difference between the two cars was about 3 minutes by 150 mph.

Amazingly, the Model S’ 0-60 mph fell off rapidly after its first couple of runs, and from the 15th launch, the flagship Tesla Condo was hitting highway rates nearly at the speed of this Chevy Bolt EV. This was the case, at least, until Tesla rolled out its own Cheetah Stance update for its Model S. What changed once that has been rolled out.

With the specific same car on hand, Car and Driver chosen to update the Model S Performance’s capacities with its Cheetah Stance update. The only difference was this time, the test course used for its all-electric sedan’s jumps was in Michigan instead of Southern California. Obviously the Tesla Model S obtained better after its update.

The hero run of the Model S Performance was impressive back in February, but using its Cheetah Mode update, the automobile was able to show that a 0-60 mph time of 2.4 seconds, matching the Taycan Turbo S’ finest time. Inasmuch as the outcomes from this past February were shocking, the outcomes from the Model S’ retest proved astounding. The car ’s 0-60 mph time only ranged from 2.7 to 3.8 minutes, also quarter-mile passes ranged from 11.3 to 12.9 minutes.

Ultimately, after 15 consecutive launches, the average time in the two metrics fell by about 2 seconds compared to the evaluations last February. This stunning improvement in consistency, that was apparently only due to software that is new, was something that impressed Car and Driver.

“Across all 15 runs, the time in the two metrics fell by a two seconds in contrast to our previous test. That’s a shocking gain by twiddling several lines of code, in functionality, and we still promise to marvel at the breadth and depth of these modifications Tesla is currently creating with its continual software upgrades,&rdquo.

What is quite interesting is that the Tesla Model S Performance now is not done receiving improvements from the electrical car manufacturer. Tesla stands apart from the competition with its own mastery of over-the-air software upgrades , and when Car and Driver’s evaluations are any indicator, these improvements are incredibly evident. It might, for you, match the consistency and performance of a flagship car including the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, at a fraction of the price.
