In the realm of drag racing, then one would discover an entire range of cars. There are powerful muscle cars buzzing with old-school vehicle mastery,  imports modified to this extent that they behave almost like supercars, and at times, there’ll even be a few fancy vehicles loaded with RICE (Racing Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements).

During drag competitions, the existence of a Tesla usually strikes a shakeup of the event’s rankings. Due to their electric motors, vehicles like the Tesla Model S, 3X exude instant torque, giving them monster occupancy amounts . The Model S P100D, to get you, frequently battles supercars on the quarter distance, despite being a full-sized sedan that could seat seven (such as jump seats in the rear, an option now discontinued). Thus, things get very interesting when superior, high-performance electric automobiles get involved in a drag racing event.

This is exactly what happened during a recent 1/8-mile drag contest in the Dorchester Dragway, located in Dorchester, South Carolina. During the meet, Kacey Green, also a brand new Tesla Model X P100D operator, chose to carry his all-electric family vehicle to the occasion, to observe how long it stacks up against other vehicles. Needless to say, the outcomes of Green’s experimentation proved quite enjoyable to watch, especially if one is an electric automobile enthusiast.

The Model X P100D confronted with many competitors, and it ruled each and every one. Nearly amusingly, the Model X’s victim was a car that seemed to be a RICE-d up four-cylinder car, complete with neon underglow lights. Observing this was a string of more serious competitions included of imports, a fellow SUV, a Dodge Hellcat, and also a tuned muscle vehicle — all of which finally bowed into the all-electric SUV. At an opinion on the video, Green softly added that whoever owns the muscle car was annoyed following their race, since his car had been beaten by a seven-seat “minivan. ”

At the closing moments of the video, Green might be seen posing before his Model X P100D with his money prize in the contest ’s Domestic – Street Tires bracket. The Model X P100D, for its part, has been fittingly in Celebration Mode, flapping its Falcon Wing Doors.

Despite being the biggest and heaviest of Tesla’s current vehicles, the Model X P100D remains an SUV that boasts supercar-like acceleration. Over time, the car has proven itself on the track, controlling high-performance vehicles like the BMW M4, in addition to incredibly fast and powerful SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus, the Mercedes-AMG G63, along with the Hellcat-powered Jeep Trackhawk.

If Tesla’s current upgrades are any sign, however, there is a great probability that the Model X could be much faster in the not too distant future. Earlier this week, the Tesla chose to retire the 75 kWh battery pack option for its vehicles, starting the doors into the chance of a more 2170 battery mobile update for its Model S and X, both of which are still using old 18650 cells. Together with 2170 cells and comparable cooling strategies into the Model 3 Performance, there is a pretty good possibility that Tesla would release a “Track Mode” update for the Model S and X as well. Once that happens, even regulars of shut circuits will best see.
