The Tesla Model Y lineup is expanding as the company has introduced an entry Standard Range version.
Pricing starts at $41,990 which makes it $8,000 less expensive compared to Model Y Long Range. But, there are some pretty significant tradeoffs.
First of all, the entry Model Y includes an EPA-estimated range of 244 miles (393 kilometers ) that is 82 miles (132 km) less compared to Model Y Long Range. The Model Y Standard Range can be rear-wheel drive, whereas the remaining portion of the lineup is all-wheel drive.

Aside from giving up grip, performance takes a hit because the dash to 60 mph (96 km/h) takes 5.3 seconds. This ’s pretty good, however, also the Model Y Long Range can accomplish the identical job in 4.8 seconds.
The Model Y Standard Range is now available to purchase and deliveries are anticipated to choose between 2-5 weeks. Its arrival is intriguing as Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the Model Y Standard Range was axed as the ldquo;range would be unacceptably low (< 250 mile EPA). ”
There’s no word on why the business suddenly reversed course, but the arrival of the Ford Mustang Mach-E along with Volkswagen ID.4 may clarify matters. The Mach-E starts at $42,895 whereas the ID.4 begins at $39,995. Both are eligible for a $7,500 federal tax charge, which makes them significantly cheaper than the Model Y.
Put simply, the Model Y can now be equipped with an optional third-row for $3,000. It adds two seats and an Easy Entry approach to enhance accessibility to this third-row. Even though there’s probably isn’t even considerably legroom, third-row passengers will discover a USB-C charging interface.
