Almost 18 months after the Tesla Model Y made its world debut, company founder Elon Musk said the seven-seater electric vehicle will eventually be entering production following month, with deliveries to follow in early December.
Even the Model Y is developed on exactly the same stage as the Model 3 and shares about 75 percent of its components. The similarities extend in the cottage – items are pretty much equal to the Model 3, using a 15-inch camera being the predominant feature of the cottage. There’s even a wrought iron roof and a large seating position, the latter a result of the floor-mounted batteries.
Conveniences contain the smartphone-as-a-key port, which connects with the Tesla Mobile app for functions like remote unlock, and Summon, remote pre-conditioning, location tracking, Speed Limit Mode, and more.
To get powertrain, it’s either powered with one (RWD) or dual-motor (AWD) setup. Tesla’s website now shows two variations – Performance and Long Range AWD, and both employ the dual-motor AWD system.
No output figures have been revealed yet, but Tesla claims that the Long Range AWD will do exactly the 0-96 km/h (0-60 miles ) sprint in 4.8 minutes, and has a top speed of 217 km/h. Its battery is very great for a range of 508 km on a complete charge (based on EPA estimates).
The Performance version, on the other hand, is much quicker in the 0-96 km/h sprint, necessitating just 3.5 minutes to complete the job. It’ll proceed to a top speed of 250 km/h, and rides 21-inch wheels. A complete charge yields a estimated driving range of 468 km. All versions are compatible with all the automaker’s V3 Superchargers. More information will be revealed soon, so stay tuned!
