Tesla Roadster SpaceX package’s 1.1-sec launch simulation is straight out of sci-fi

It’s quite hard to discount Tesla’s performance claims for the own vehicles, particularly since the company has a reputation for releasing production vehicles that have exceptional specs in comparison to their prototypes. When Tesla’s next-generation Roadster was introduced having a 1.9-second 0-60 mph , the electrical vehicle community understood the production version of this all-electric supercar would be unique.

Not long after its own signature, CEO Elon Musk mentioned a version of this Roadster that would perform much above that of their automobile ’s already-stunning prototype. Musk’s idea for your Roadster was something straight out of a sci-fi movie, using the CEO describing a supercar equipped with cold gas thrusters, very similar to a literal SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. This variant had been unofficially called the Tesla Roadster SpaceX Package.

The Roadster is to enter creation, but the enthusiasm for your vehicle remains palpable. This really became evident last month when the Roadster model brought a lot of attention as it was displayed at the Petersen Auto Museum. And during its excursion into the museum, Tesla enthusiasts detected something remarkable using the next-generation Roadster’s data panel: that the SpaceX Package’s 0-60 mph figures were estimated at a crazy 1.1 minutes.

This number was mad in many ways, as it had been something coming to the amount of NHRA Top Fuel Dragsters and vehicles used for land speed records like the Bloodhound SSC. But true to form, Elon Musk confirmed the Tesla Roadster SpaceX Package would really have the capability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 1.1 minutes. Interestingly , this figure was mentioned earlier by YouTube’s Engineering Explained, that calculated that the rocket-equipped Roadster can, at least in concept, perform a 0-60 mph launch in 1.1 minutes.

Elon Musk confirms the new Tesla Roadster’s 1.1-second 0-60 mph acceleration

This type of launch was recently rendered in stunning 3D by former avionics engineer and VFX artist Slav Popovski, that shared a simulation of how a base next-gen Roadster compares into the Tesla Roadster SpaceX package in a drag race. The artist only simulated the SpaceX Package’s thrusters being on for 1.1 seconds, but the consequence was out of the world. According to the simulation, even the base next-gen Roadster managed to complete its quarter-mile run in 8.8 seconds, although its rocket-equipped sibling managed to cover the exact identical space in 7.95 seconds. This ’s quite exciting considering the simulation only needed the rocket thrusters on for a second during the automobile ’s launch.

If the Tesla Roadster SpaceX Package’s launch was even slightly accurate into the simulation, then the EV manufacturer may want to implement some security measures for the halo car. Even a 1.1-second 0-60 mph launching isn’t a joke, after all, also Elon Musk himself has noticed that occupants of this vehicle would likely feel as though they are in a more “hardcore” roller coaster. Together with the Roadster SpaceX Package, perhaps Tesla would need to call the automobile ’s launch something much beyond Plaid, should such a thing even exists. “Double Plaid,” possibly?
